Israel has many enemies.
We use military, political, and diplomatic strategies
to protect ourselves against our enemies.
We are suggesting one more strategy to add to our arsenal.
One Shabbat.
That everyone in Israel observes one Shabbat as a way of being stronger
in relation
to
our enemies.
We now use many other methods.
Let's try this additional method to see if it helps.
What Shabbat? September
8, 2012.
From 6:40PM Friday night to 7PM Saturday night.
What does participating in One Shabbat involve? It means
three things:
Having meals with
family and friends
There's Friday night supper and Shabbat lunch. Some add a
snack Shabbat afternoon. Arrange to get together with family
and friends, and have a great time
having meals together. Sounds like fun.
Doing something that
feels spiritual
This can mean reading a book that seems spiritual, having discussions,
taking walks. What to do needs some thought.
Not doing work
This may seem like the 'hard' part. But not doing work
creates the environment that makes the other two things possible.
It takes away the
distractions.
This is not about changing lifestyle or becoming religious.
This is just spending one day doing these three things.
Because our sages tell us it will make us stronger against our enemies.
Let's try it.
Let's have a great time with family and friends on one Shabbat.
